The Steading is an historic stone building & the adjacent Quarters is a corrugated iron building on a sheep grazing property at foothills of the Snowy Mts. A unique experience to stay in such a magnificent landscape in authentic farm buildings. Perfect for cyclists, walkers & people wanting calm quiet tranquility & beauty or as a base for the mountains. 5 bedrooms, 2 kitchens & lounge rooms.. Has been used as a film set, wedding venue, artists, sculptors, musicians and writers retreat, book club get togethers, groups of friends long lunches and dinners and along with the fabulous wedding have had one successful proposal… there is also a one bedroom cottage for rent, which has been place of inspiration for writers, artists and musicians over the years.

There are piles of books to read, nearby stream to fish in, fabulous roads to cycle on, nearby Snowy River to swim in, an hours drive from Thredbo and a great place to totally get away from noise and people! You may sight a few kangaroos and wallabies, grazing sheep and perhaps an echidna and many birds. The Steading was built 120 years ago when the property was 20,000 acres in size and it was the centrepiece of the largest lucerne producing property in the southern hemisphere. The building was large enough for the teams of horses and men who were employed to cut the lucerne over the summer months when all the sheep were departured in the nearby snowy mountains. The property has been the wellspring for much creative output with musicians, writers, artists and filmmakers. It is a place to calmly detox and enjoy the sound of silence without distraction of tv. It is for those who enjoy vast open raw landscapes, authentic vernacular architecture, the luxury of piles of great books, and endless starry nights... There are 3 ensuite bedrooms with 2 kitchens and lounge rooms, and the option of two more bedrooms at the rear of the building. King beds can be made into king singles in the two large bedrooms in The Quarters while there is one en suite Queen bedroom in the main part of the stone Steading and two bedrooms at the rear of the buildings - one large room with queen bed and another room with twin beds.
